Golden Axe

You'll take on the role of Ax Battler, Gilius Thunderhead, or Tyris Flare as you battle your way through hordes of enemies to reach Death-Adder's fortress. Each character has a special power that can be charged by kicking around small blue creatures that drop magical potions. You'll also encounter green creatures that bring health food, which will help you stay in the fight.

The gameplay is fast-paced and action-packed as you fight your way through levels. Some enemies come with their own mounts - dragons or scorpions - which can be taken control of to attack other foes. The Sega Mega Drive version allows players to team up with a friend, but some console versions have limitations, such as fewer levels or less enemy variety.

The original arcade game and its most adaptations allow for two-player co-op action, while some home console versions restrict the gameplay to solo mode.
