NFL Quarterback Club 97 is a football game that uses similar gameplay elements to Madden NFL 97 . The game features a kicking T-meter, a three-quarter overhead primary camera angle, and button assignments for controls. Player animations are smooth and realistic, with clearly visible jersey numbers and names on the player sprites.

The game also includes a historic simulation mode where players can choose from 50 classic NFL game situations to try and rewrite history. For example, imagine it's December 23, 1973. The Dallas Cowboys are down 28-13 to the 49ers with under a minute remaining. They score a touchdown and recover an onside kick, giving them a chance to complete one of the greatest comebacks in NFL history.
