The Moto Racer Advance is the first adaptation of the motorcycle racing series for a handheld platform. Moto Racer Advance offers different game modes, including single race, championship, league and progression. The latter is the main mode, which provides a path for three main racing styles: Cross, GP and Traffic.
The game follows a similar concept to the originals, where players race on asphalt or all-terrain tracks. Each of the three paths can be followed separately, without needing to be completed in a specific order. Bikes have different statistics based on maximum speed, acceleration, brakes and grip. The game also features various locations, including California, England, Kenya, Moscow and San Francisco.
Players must master the art of using brakes effectively to navigate GP tracks, which feature a set number of laps and opponents that need to be passed before reaching the finish line. In contrast, off-road terrain tracks in the Cross mode require mastery of powersliding to pass corners through bumpy terrain. The traffic style introduces AI-controlled traffic that needs to be dodged, with signs above the racer warning for upcoming corners and obstacles.
