Mega Man II follows Dr. Wily's latest plan to take over the world. After breaking into the Chronos Institute, he has stolen a machine called Time Skimmer, which allows him to travel 37,426 years into the future. This can only mean disaster for humanity, so Mega Man and his dog Rush must find out what Dr. Wily is planning.
The gameplay in Mega Man II remains true to its predecessors, with players guiding Mega Man through side-scrolling levels that are filled with challenging platforming sections and formidable bosses. As players defeat each boss, they can earn new weapons for Mega Man, which will aid them in their quest to stop Dr. Wily's evil plans.
The first four stages of Mega Man II bear a striking resemblance to some levels from its predecessors, Mega Man 2 and Mega Man 3 , with similar graphics and gameplay mechanics. The bosses in these stages are also familiar enemies from previous games in the series.
