RACING MODES
Arcade Mode
Compete in a single Championship series by selecting one of the 8 available NASCAR® drivers. Race all tracks in order to score points and finish 1st in the competition. Finishing positions award points after each race; refer to page 16 for championship point details. Note that pit stops for tires or fuel are not required, and progress cannot be saved.
Single Race
Race any of the 8 drivers on any track for a single event. You can toggle tire wear and fuel usage On/Off using the Single Race Pits option.
Time Trial
Gain experience and attempt to beat your best lap time on any track.
Beat the Heat
Compete in a series of challenges that become progressively harder as you advance. Challenges include completing a lap within a set time and holding off charging pack drivers during races.
Multiplayer
Enjoy games with other players using one of two connection methods:
•
Multi-Cart: Allows 2 to 4 players to link using a Game Boy® Advance Game Link® Cable. Requires 2 to 4 Game Paks and systems. The Master (host) selects the track after all players connect.
•
Multi-Boot: Allows 2 to 4 players to race head-to-head using only one Game Pak. The Master has control while others see a logo screen until data transfer is complete. Only one track is available, and vehicles are selected randomly.
The player connected to the 1P end of the Link® Cable is always the Master (host).
CAREER MODE
Progress from a rookie to a seasoned professional to win the NASCAR® Cup. You must first select a team and complete a task (such as a timed lap) to earn a ride. Once hired, you compete in the Championship series, aiming to finish in the target position for that team.
Performance determines your status:
•
Good performance may lead to offers from other teams.
•
Poor performance results in being dropped from the team.
•
If dropped, you can only try out for teams in less prestigious groups.
•
If booted from all teams in a group without moving up, your career ends.
Better teams offer superior resources, including faster pit crews, better cars, and improved handling, top speed, and acceleration.

CHAMPIONSHIPS
A Championship season consists of 12 races across all circuits. The goal is to accumulate the most points to win the NASCAR® Cup.
Session Progression
On your first visit to a track, choose from Practice, Qualifying, and Race. Sessions must be taken in order; once a session is completed or aborted, previous sessions are no longer available. The Race session is essential for progression.
•
Practice: Identical to Time Trial mode but tied to the Championship. There is no time limit.
•
Qualifying: Determines your starting position. After one warm-up lap, you have one qualifying lap to set your fastest time. Drivers are ranked by speed.
•
Race: If you skip Qualifying, your start position defaults to last.
Point System
Points are awarded based on finishing position:
•
Positions 2-6: Decline in five-point increments.
•
Positions 7-11: Decline in four-point increments.
•
Positions 12 and lower: Decline in three-point increments.
