Robotica was a first-generation game for the Sega Saturn , released in 1995. The game is an action & adventure title that follows the story of a machine that rebels against robots to save mankind. Players take on the role of this machine, using weapons such as a punch, Vulcan gun, missiles, and lasers to progress through various hallways.
The game takes place in 2877, where the world's peacekeeping unions have collapsed and are replaced by the World Silent Security Service. However, a rebel group, the Reformist Faction, sends three pilots in Laocorn assault robots to the WSSS' space station Daedalus in earth's orbit. The player must control one of these remaining robots as it navigates through the stages, collecting keys and using computers to trigger lights.

Extracted from the original game manual
Set in a futuristic world dominated by the autonomous space fortress Daedalus, this game pits the enforcer of world peace against the growing "Revolutionary Faction," Robotica. The player likely assumes the role of a WSSS agent tasked with suppressing the rebellion and protecting the status quo of the totalitarian regime. As the rebels gain strength and prepare to end Daedalus's dictatorship, the conflict escalates into a high-stakes struggle between order and freedom.
Story
The World in 2877
Eight hundred years ago, a single World Government was formed, transcending the regions, peoples, and religions that previously constituted the world order. Since then, a single state encompassing all mankind has ceased to exist.
The WSSS and Daedalus
To resolve the disputes and violence of that chaotic time, the World Silent Security Service (WSSS) was established. Its mission is to protect the safety and human rights of all mankind.
The WSSS belongs to no government organization and takes action on its own, using unique methods. Its base is the WSSS Central Control Fortress, codenamed "Daedalus."
Built in space on a gigantic asteroid far from Earth, Daedalus functions completely autonomously. It takes no outside supplies and serves as the symbol of achieving the ideal, harmed by nothing.
Conflict and Revolution
Despite 800 years of Daedalus's activity, no wars between men have occurred. However, public sentiment has shifted. Some worship Daedalus like a god, placing their lives in its hands.
Others, tired of being bound by old ideas, have struck out as the "Revolutionary Faction," known as Robotica. These two philosophies often come into conflict, and Daedalus is repeatedly called on to suppress them by any means necessary.
Robotica's Rise
While surface conflicts appear minor, Robotica's freedom fighters have been arming themselves and steadily gaining strength below the surface.
The rebels have secretly modified a jail colony where prisoners are sent, fashioning it into a base for their activities. With this modification finished, Robotica now has the strength to take full-scale action. They make their move to end the dictatorship of Daedalus...

How to Play
Game Over
When you are attacked by an enemy, your shields take damage. If your Laocorn takes damage when the shield is at 0%, the game is over.
The message "LAOCORN OUT OF CONTROL AT;" is displayed with the floor number you reached and your current score.
Continuing and Restarting
To play the game again, highlight "INVASIONS 'WS'S'". You will restart the game from the first floor of the last stage you reached.
To quit, highlight "CONNECT OUT" then press START to select. When you continue a game, your Laocorn's weapons levels and number of rounds are restored to their original levels.

Fortress Navigation
Inside the Daedalus are a number of doors which open when you press button C or Y. However, you'll need to acquire a Gate Key to enter the elevator to go to the next level.
Computers from which you can collect data are also installed inside the fortress. Stand in front of a computer and press button C or Y to acquire the map of the current level.
Items & Weapons
Arm Punch
This directly damages the enemy with the arm of the LAOCORN. Ammunition is not used.
Vulcan
Your Vulcan is a powerful gun which fires one round at a time.
Missile
Your missile is useful against powerful enemies or enemies in hard-to-reach places. The missile locks onto the enemy's radar, pursuing it.
Laser
This enables attacks with more power than a Vulcan.
Hover Jet
Enables movement at maximum speed. You can use this to move quickly and/or avoid damage from floor defenses. Energy consumption: Slight.
Power Booster
Charge your weapons to make them stronger. Energy consumption: Slight.
Blaze Laser
Destroys all enemies on radar. Energy consumption: Heavy.
Plasma Barrier
Protects your LAOCORN from all attacks, but only for a short time. Energy consumption: Moderate.
Refresh Shield
Restores energy to your field. 1% refresh is added to shield strength per use. Energy consumption: Slight.
Vulcan Cartridge
Increases Vulcan ammunition.
Laser Cartridge
Replenishes laser ammunition.
Missile Cartridge
Replenishes missile ammunition.
Shield Repair
Increases shield strength by 10%.
Generator Recharger
Increases generator energy level.
Weapon Booster
Increases the strength of all weapons in your arsenal.
Gate Key
Accesses elevator to the next level.
Super Booster
Increases shield and generator energy to their maximum levels.
Power Down
If you linger on any floor for too long, Bug Sweeper enemies locate you and place these in your path. Touching one will decrease the power of all your weapons by one level.
Enemies & Characters
LAOCORN
A stealth-type general-purpose mobile infantry controlled by a Psycho Control System that synchronizes the main system and the pilot's mind. It is a highly expandable machine with many mountable options for responding to any situation.
QUATTRO
A suicide mobile infantry that uses hover units for sharp turns and was originally designed for transporting materials. It has enough attack strength to expel an ordinary battalion despite its transport chassis design.
AROBIT
Security interception armor that hovers in the air to guard against intruders at doorways and entrance points. Designed to watch prisoners, it is equipped with anti-gravity boosters for levitation.
GRIFFITH
A high mobility levitating infantry regarded as the final line of defense of the fortress due to its superior armor and destructive force. Its armament is the successor of the VN-884 Volcano, developed for greater durability and target destruction.
CURVE-GOON
A general-purpose interception armor regarded as a mobile pillbox that searches out and eliminates enemy targets. Its head-mount cannon fires a single round but possesses tremendous power.
STALLION
A guerrilla mobile infantry shaped somewhat like a human being that moves by hovering rather than using its legs as landing gear. It is the current standard in military weaponry and the main fighter for neutralizing enemy command centers.
