Forced Event Mode
During Forced Event Mode, characters move on their own and the story progresses automatically. You can only read messages. Important information is often mentioned, so pay attention to the screen.
Guidelines for Success
You and your companions will explore many realms, fight battles, solve riddles, and find treasure.
•
You start with only Steiner. Others will join you to save the Common World. •
Talk to everyone for vital clues and hints. Discern important facts from misleading information.
•
You begin with 150 gold pieces. Use them to buy supplies in town.
•
After gathering supplies, resting, and getting information, leave town. You will battle and increase your powers in the country.
•
You begin lightly armed as a Level 1 swordsman. Encountering enemies automatically enters Battle Mode.
•
Each combat victory makes you stronger by increasing skills, attack power, and gold.
•
Guide your friends in battle. Learn their strengths and weaknesses to anticipate outcomes.
•
If an attack will weaken you too much, run for your life. Avoid running too often, as you need to fight to increase abilities.
•
In some areas, Underworld forces are too strong until you have more battle experience and powerful weapons. Fight lesser enemies first to gain experience and gold for better weapons.
•
When in towns or villages, rest at an inn. Buy supplies and better weapons from local merchants.
Command Menu
The Command Menu opens when you press X. It displays five commands for the Basic Screen: TALK, SEARCH, MAGIC, ITEM, and PREPARE. These commands are explained as the game progresses.
Talk
Once you can operate the main character freely, try the TALK command.
•
Select TALK and press X while standing next to someone (e.g., Galahad) to open a message window and talk to them. •
Talk to different people to acquire information.
•
You can also talk to someone by pressing A, L1, or R1 while facing them.
Search
Galahad will tell you to take weapons and armor from the cellar. •
Use the SEARCH command in the cellar to gather items.
•
Walk up to an item and face it.
•
Open the Command Menu, select SEARCH, and press X.
•
Use SEARCH for swords on walls, pots on floors, barrels, or treasure chests.
•
Searching everything around you can reveal hidden items.
•
SEARCH can also be activated by pressing A, L1, or R1.
Storage Chest
A special Storage Chest is found in the cellar.
•
Use it to store excess items and gold you don't want to carry but wish to retrieve later.
•
Searching this chest allows you to either remove or store items.
•
Choose the action, then select an item from the displayed list.
•
The Storage Chest contains useful items from the start of the game; take what you need.
Magic
Finn and other characters learn magic as the game progresses. The MAGIC command is used to cast spells. •
In the Basic Screen, magic use is generally limited to Recovering Magic.
•
Each type of magic has different levels, effects, and characteristics. Remember which magic can be used at any given time.
•
Once you select MAGIC, you'll enter a series of menus.
