Twisted Metal takes place in a twisted world where car combat is the norm. The story revolves around Calypso, a mysterious figure who hosts a macabre game show, "Twisted Metal", where drivers compete to be the last one standing. The show features eight locations around the world, each with its unique terrain and destructible buildings.
Gameplay in Twisted Metal is fast-paced and intense, with players choosing from a variety of vehicles, each with its strengths and weaknesses. Vehicles can be equipped with a range of weapons, including bombs and missiles, which are used to take down opponents. The game features a single-player tournament mode, as well as a single match option, allowing players to test their skills against AI opponents or friends.
